Thursday, May 27, 2004 Wife divorced for administering polio drops - Times of India "A man who did not want his son to have polio drops has divorced his wife for disobeying him. The incident in West Bengal 's Paschim Mondalpara village in Murshidabad district has left health workers, who are trying to create awareness about the crippling disease that strikes children under five, distraught. Administrative officials and health workers have sought the help of the local Muslim cleric to persuade the man to revoke the divorce. Officials fear that if the situation wasn't rectified it would send out the wrong signals to others who have doubts about giving polio drops to their children." |
