Thursday, May 27, 2004 Has My World Turned Topsy-Turvy? - Arab News "You see, I am a Latino and have lived in Saudi Arabia for 15 of my 30 years. I am a Muslim, speak Arabic, and have embraced Saudi culture in every way wishing to make it my own. My daughter was born here and I have chosen to live in Saudi Arabia in order to provide her with the best possible Muslim upbringing close to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. Growing up for many years in Los Angeles, I have heard of children being pushed into prostitution, being abducted, raped and murdered and later found in a dumpster. To me, Saudi Arabia has always been the embodiment of safety; however, I am now worried, simply because I am white." |
